Sex Styles for
Tall People

Being taller presents its own biomechanical challenges — from beds that are too low to standard positions that compress longer limbs uncomfortably. This SIM & TAST guide addresses these directly with 5 practical styles designed for taller individuals and couples.

SIM & TAST Overview
Why Being Tall Creates Unique Positioning Challenges

Taller individuals — typically those above 5ft 10in — frequently encounter two primary challenges during sex: standard furniture is designed for average body proportions creating hip and knee misalignment, and longer limbs reduce the body’s ability to fold into compact positions comfortably.

For tall couples where both partners are tall, height parity does not eliminate these issues — it compounds them. A bed that is too low forces both partners to compress their frames, reducing mobility and causing lower back and knee fatigue quickly.

The styles in this SIM & TAST guide work with tall body proportions rather than against them — using longer reach, greater leverage and environmental adjustments to create positions that are comfortable, sustainable and deeply pleasurable for taller bodies.

The Long Spoon
Best for: tall couples — full body extension with zero limb compression
What It Is

A full-body spooning position where both partners lie on their sides with bodies fully extended. Unlike standard spooning where shorter partners fold their knees, tall partners benefit from fully extending both sets of legs — creating a long aligned body stack that maximises comfort for longer frames.

How to Position
  • 1Both partners lie on their sides facing the same direction — receiving partner in front, giving partner behind. Both sets of legs extend fully rather than drawing up toward the chest.
  • 2The receiving partner tilts their hips backward slightly — a 10 to 15 degree backward rotation opens the hip angle for comfortable rear entry without either partner bending their knees significantly.
  • 3A pillow between the receiving partner’s knees maintains hip alignment and prevents the top leg from falling forward — which would close the hip angle and reduce access.
Why It Works for Taller Bodies

The extended spooning position allows tall partners to use their full body length as a lever. Longer legs in the extended position create better hip stability and alignment than bent-knee positions — the opposite of what many tall individuals experience in compressed positions like missionary or seated styles.

Special Note from O.N.A

For very tall couples both over 6ft, a king-size bed is almost a necessity for this position — the extra width allows both partners to extend their frames fully without feet hanging off the edge. A firm mattress also significantly improves proprioceptive feedback and movement control.

The Bench Press
Best for: tall giving partner — corrects bed height using furniture
What It Is

The receiving partner lies on a surface elevated to the tall giving partner’s natural standing hip height — a sturdy table, bench or high platform bed. This eliminates the need for the tall giving partner to crouch, bend or strain their lower back in any standing position.

How to Position
  • 1Identify a surface whose height matches approximately the tall giving partner’s hip level when standing. A dining table, chest of drawers or high bed frame are common options. The surface must be completely stable and non-slip.
  • 2Receiving partner sits on the edge and then lies back with hips at the very edge of the surface. A folded towel under the hips adds comfort and fine-tunes the angle.
  • 3Giving partner stands between the receiving partner’s legs at full height — no bending, no crouching, completely neutral spine throughout.
Why It Works for Taller Bodies

The single most common complaint from tall giving partners is lower back strain from bending forward or downward. This position eliminates that strain completely by raising the receiving partner to the giving partner’s natural standing height — turning a common limitation into a mechanical advantage.

Special Note from O.N.A

Test the stability of any surface before use. The giving partner’s hands on the receiving partner’s hips provide stabilisation and depth control. For taller receiving partners, wrapping their legs around the giving partner’s waist rather than letting them hang provides additional stability and a significant increase in depth and sensation.
